Back ONline

Earthly Hues' Etsy shop is back online. I'm planning an update for the end of next week, so check back!

Earthly Hues at A Wool Gathering

So, we were in the red tent at A Wool Gathering, can you tell? For some reason, my Canon turned the strips yellow, but everything in the tent had a reddish tint. People were taking yarn & fibre outside to see it in sunlight. I had a great time there, and met new people.

Among the new people I met are Doreen and Elaine from A Tangled Tale in Powell, Ohio. They'll be carrying some Erthly Hues sock yarns this fall! Hurrah! The shop is lovely, and has cozy places to sit and chat. My favourite thing in the shop was a cookie tin filled with buttons. I love button boxes! She's got several different yarn brands and different fibres. Among the unique fibres I saw was possum fibre yarn. The possum yarn comes from Australia and it's amazingly soft and warm stuff. Go check it out!

End of SUmmer Sale!

Hi everyone! It's been a while, I know...I won't continue to make excuses. Life has gotten more and more complex with Husband-Boy travelling for work, and it's hard to get everything done. Something always suffers, and right now it's Earthly Hues and the garden, because my kids are more important. I know, priorities. There's been a huge difference between what I think I can get done and what actually gets done. I've made some decisions regarding that, and will share them with you quite soon.

I'm having an end-of summer sale, so everything in the shop is 15% off right now. Yep, that's everything! I do have some fibre that's not in the shop....it's coming with me to A Wool Gathering at Young's Jersey Dairy in September (September 19 & 20). Anything not sold there will enter the shop when we return. If you've seen seomthing in a booth at another fibre fest, and you don't see it in the shop, e-mail me: tricia @ earthlyhues . com (remove the spaces).

I would love to have everything in the shop now, but Etsy charges a listing fee as well as a selling fee, and if I list it on Etsy, then take it out of the Etsy shop and sell it at the fibre fest, I lose that money....bummer.

Both boys started school this week, so I'll have a little more time than I have had this summer...but I also have to mow, clean, and I'm sure Zinny-Dog would love a walk (so would I).

Hve a great week everyone, and I hpe to see some of you at A Wool Gathering!

Hoosier Hills Fiber Ats Festival

I had a great time in the Hoosier State! Thanks Indiana knitters, spinners, and fibre artists! Thanks also to the husbands, wives, partners, friends, children, and parents thereof!

Here are a few photos of the booth:

You can see I've added some shelving. My goal is to keep adding to the booth with some of the proceeds from shows.

I made lots of progess on a pair of socks this weekend. They're Mom's Simple Cable Socks in Earthly Hues Saplings, Brooding colourway.

I also made some progress (though it's slow-going) on my current spinning project. I'm attempting a fingering-weight two-ply yarn, The fiber is 50% baby camel and 50% silk, and it's the most beautiful stuff I've ever seen...barring Earthly Hues yarn and fiber that is! It's very fun to spin.

I've decided to tempt you with a photo...it's part of a contest that I'll be holding in my booth at Woolfest at the end of the month. Guess how many skein bands I can get out of a paper grocery sack and win the scarlet and grey bag, stuffed with a sock kit consisting of everything you need to make yourself your own pair of Mom's Simple Cable Socks.

You can read more of my exploits at Spastic Shepherd Knits! I don't want to repeat myself too much here! Hope to see you at Woolfest on June 27 and 28!

Off to the Hoosier State!

Westward Ho!

In just a couple of days I'll be leaving for my second fibre festival, the Hoosier Hills Fiber Arts Festival in Franklin, Indiana. It's this Friday and Saturday, June 5 and 6 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.

In anticipation of being gone, I've finally finished uploading photos of inventory to my Etsy store. I needed to get a handle on my actual inventory before going. The last batch went up today, a big batch of bamboo-blend superwash sock yarns. Here are just a couple:

Silver Lining

I'll be taking everything back out of the store on Thursday, June 4. It will go back up after I've done inventory on Monday, June 8. It WILL NOT take a month to get everything up this time, because I don't have to deal with photography for much of anything--it's already done. It's the photography and working with Etsy that takes years to deal with.

There will be some new things on Monday! Hooray! Well, there will be some new things if they don't sell this weekend. :) I've got four new colours of the organic cotton, which works great for a little summer baby sweater like Semilla. It now comes in Lilac (purple), Baby Pink, Evergreen (pale yellow-green), and Butter (pretty yellow). I've also been busy dyeing spinning fibre. It's been a while since I dyed any, and I have 6 different fibres to upload on Monday: Superwash Merino, Untreated Merino, Untreated Organic Merino, Merino & Bamboo, Merino & Silk, and Blue-Faced Leicester. The BFL has the yummiest crimp, and it's all lovely to work with.

I've been working on a pair of Mom's Simple Cable Socks in Brooding (the pattern uses Saplings, or sport-weight sock yarn). Perhaps I'll finish them up this weekend? I can't wait to get there and meet new people. Perhaps I'll meet you there?

New Saplings!

I've just finished putting lots of new colours of Saplings in the Etsy Shop. Check them out!
